Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to get recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, including her independent single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat, a track she recorded together with Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was supported by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas On Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. On February 20, 2019 a music video was made available for the track. It has already received more than 3 million views on YouTube within its first week. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
